The Ma + D initiative wins the XIII Manuel Laborde Werlinden Award
It is an engineering project of valuation of agroforestry residues

The initiative Ma+D presented by Iván Rivilla, Jalel Labidi, Rodrigo Llano-Ponte y Luis Serrano has been awarded with the first prize Manuel Laborde Werlinden, in its thirteenth edition, to the best entrepreneurial initiative with a technological base based on innovative ideas. The project presented by this first-line research group brings to market the knowledge developed during the years of research in the sector of waste recovery based on a triple sustainability principle: economic, social and environmental.

It has also received the 2nd Prize, with an economic endowment of € 3,000, the initiative BCC, presented by Alexandre Manhaes, Borja Ayerdi y Manuel Graña, for the project Cloud Service brain imaging to provide specific responses in the field of Neuroscience.

AIn addition, innovative and / or technology-based proposals will be eligible for aid managed by BIC GIPUZKOA BERRILAN and articulated by the Department for Rural Development and Tourism Innovation of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and by SPRI dependent Vasco Government-Eusko Jaurlaritza. These grants can reach the sum of 60,000 euros, depending on the degree of innovation and interest of the projects.

This 13th edition of the Manuel Laborde Werlinden Award is promoted within the framework of the ENTREPRENARI Program, developed and managed by the UPV / EHU-Campus of Gipuzkoa and the European Business and Innovation Center Bic Gipuzkoa Berrilan, whose objective is the development, And support to the entrepreneurs and the creation of innovative companies in the Campus of Gipuzkoa of the UPV / EHU.

El Premio está dirigido al personal docente e investigador de la UPV/EHU; a empresas que deciden explotar los resultados de una investigación realizada en colaboración con la UPV/EHU, a través de la creación de una nueva empresa; y a titulados, postgraduados o alumnado de último curso de la UPV/EHU.

El galardón tiene como objetivos principales:

Fomentar ideas y proyectos de emprendizaje en el entorno universitario.
Apoyar y difundir la cultura empresarial en el colectivo universitario.
Aprovechar el potencial innovador de la Universidad para la creación y desarrollo de nuevas empresas.
Favorecer nuevas fórmulas de apoyo al empleo en nuestro entorno.
En el acto de entrega de los premios han participado Ana Arrieta, vicerrectora del Campus de Gipuzkoa de la UPV/EHU; Aitor Urzelai Inza, director de Emprendimiento, Innovación y Sociedad de la Información, Desarrollo Económico y Competitividad de Gobierno Vasco; Lore Martínez Axpe, directora General de Sistemas para la Sociedad de la Información del Departamento de Innovación, Desarrollo Rural y Turismo de la Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa.

En el mismo acto Pedro Esnaola Latasa, presidente de la Cámara de Gipuzkoa, ha impartido la ponencia titulada ‘Cómo salimos de ésta’.

Un total de quince proyectos optaban al galardón a la mejor iniciativa empresarial basada en una idea innovadora.
